A Handfull of Espresso Cups and Holders
5cm x 7cm cup / holder 9 x 4 cm square
The inspiration was the experience of drinking an espresso rather than the rushed drinking of coffee out of necessity. The cups are pinched and shaped to fit into the palm of the hand with a rounded base, although they can stand alone. They are glazed inside. The outer sides were partly dipped in variation with Stone Matt Brown and Abbots White. Some were top dipped in Old Chun and Matt brown slip dots were also applied to some. The square bases were patterned from a takeaway carrier, cut in free form and glazed with Stone matt brown and White chun. One was half dipped in mirror black and matt brown.

Ceramics Association of New Zealand

Registered as an incorporated society in 1965 by an enthusiastic group of potters in Wellington, New Zealand, Ceramics NZ has grown to become a significant international voice in New Zealand ceramics. The affiliation of about three dozen independent pottery clubs throughout New Zealand together with a number of corporate businesses greatly increases its effective membership. We are a national, not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of practising potters and ceramicists, students of ceramics and all those interested in New Zealand ceramics. We actively support and promote quality, and we encourage and support specialist ceramics education nationally.
