I began studying pottery at night classes in 1975, in Darwin, Australia, after an ilustrious career in deisel mechanics and construction.

I was lucky to be accepted as a student with noted Australian potter Victor Greenaway and served a two year apprenticeship with him in Victoria where I honed my craft with massive amounts of repetition and discipline.

A move to New Zealand in 1980 marked my start as a self-employed potter in a series of solo and shared workspaces, with a number of talented craftspeople and artists around the Wellington region.

2001 saw a move to Golden Bay where I have re-established my studio/gallery in a beautiful creel-side bush stting. Golden Bay is home to many gifted artists and artisans in a wide range of media.

My current domestic range is original, functional and inviting: my sculptural and presentation pieces range from irreverent and humerous to simple and elegant.

I specialize in large pieces including bowls, platters and hand basins.

I fire in both electric and gas kilns (and participate in the occasional local wood firing)

Glazes range from vibrant marine colours, intense gold, red and plum, to subtle shino, celedon and ash.
