Working with clay has been the passion of a lifetime for me.

1971...This is when I really got started when my husband David built a kiln of large proportions on this steep hillside below our house. We had 4 young girls, one not quite school-age .

Somehow I managed to fill it regularly and in this way built up a lot of the throwing skills I value today. The main thrust of my work has always been the vessel ,especially teapots ,cups and bowls.

During the late 70s and early 80s I began to exhibit regularly. In addition I served a term as the President of the Wellington Potters Assn.and on the committee of the N.Z. Craft Council. This led to a trip to Japan and Thailand. The refined porcelain wares and celadon glazed pots appealed to me in particular . On my return I specialized in porcelain as I enjoyed making thin- walled translucent pots.

1987.. We decided to give full-time clay work a go .David gave up his sales-engineer job and both made a move north to the beautiful town of Coromandel. There we spent 12 years living the potter lifestyle. Grew fruit trees and sold direct from our little show-room in front of the workshop.

1999..Returned to environs of Wellington for health and family reasons. Set up a workshop and annual sculpture show in the garden of our home, showcasing larger works from other artists, designed for the outdoors. David died in 2001. I continue to work alone now using a 15 cu.ft. kiln fired in reduction to cone 10(1300 C.)

2004-2008 Artist in Residence for Wellington Potters Association. Still working in reduction fired porcelain making mainly domestic ware and including photo transfer on tiles and some wall pieces . 2005 Premiere award for celadon tea set at National Exhibition . That year guest potter for Canterbury Potters Assn.

2007—2010 President of New Zealand Academy Fine Arts.

20011 Guest Artist for Matariki Exhibition in Wellington alongside Maori Artist Darcy Nicholas. New range of work in earthenware with black and white slips.

2012 Work continues from my studio in Brooklyn, Wellington. A range of earthenware and gas fired porcelain.
