Forgotten Things - John Roy at Masterworks Gallery

Masterworks Gallery, Upper Queen St, Auckland

The exhibition runs from Saturday March 16, 2019 to Saturday April 6, 2019

This latest suite of work from John Roy entitled Forgotten Things, is drawn from an exhibition that was developed for the drawing room at 'The Elms', a historic house museum in Tauranga, for a collaborative exhibition with Tauranga Art Gallery.

Six artists were invited to make work in response to a given space in the historic house and its contents. Re-imagined in the gallery without the accompanying objects and architectural references, this series talks universally about the translation and dislocation of material culture from its origins as it exists out in the wider world. Forgotten things without their forgotten things.

The exhibition will be able to be viewed from Saturday 16 March, there is no opening for this show. Please contact the gallery for more information or an e-catalogue.

Ceramics Association of New Zealand

Registered as an incorporated society in 1965 by an enthusiastic group of potters in Wellington, New Zealand, Ceramics NZ has grown to become a significant international voice in New Zealand ceramics. The affiliation of about three dozen independent pottery clubs throughout New Zealand together with a number of corporate businesses greatly increases its effective membership. We are a national, not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of practising potters and ceramicists, students of ceramics and all those interested in New Zealand ceramics. We actively support and promote quality, and we encourage and support specialist ceramics education nationally.
